World Cup 2026 Atlanta: Public Transport Guide
MARTA, rideshare, and walking routes to Mercedes-Benz Stadium and the Fan Fest
Your Transit Playbook
Mercedes-Benz Stadium sits right in downtown Atlanta, making it one of the easiest venues to reach without a car. MARTA rail connects the airport and the entire metro area directly to the stadium. While you won't find traditional tailgating in massive parking lots here, the pre-match atmosphere builds up at the local bars in Castleberry Hill and the Fan Fest at Centennial Olympic Park.
Vine City station is a 10-minute walk from the stadium, and SEC District station is slightly closer. A single MARTA fare costs $2.50. You can just tap your phone at the gate, so don't worry about buying a physical card. Remember the stadium enforces a strict clear bag policy, so leave large backpacks at your hotel.
On match days, public transit runs extended hours. Expect roads near the stadium to close 2 to 3 hours before kickoff, so plan to arrive by rail rather than driving.

MARTA to Mercedes-Benz Stadium
Take MARTA to SEC District Station
(formerly GWCC/CNN Center) on the Blue or Green Line. The main entrance to Mercedes-Benz Stadium is a 5-minute walk from this station.
Pro Tip: Use Vine City Station for post-match exit
Walk 5 minutes west from the stadium to Vine City Station instead of queuing at the crowded SEC District Station. This bypasses the 45-minute platform wait entirely and can save you 30 to 45 minutes.
Fare: $2.50 per ride. Tap your Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, or Google Pay at the fare gate. No Breeze card needed.
Airport Transfers
MARTA Rail
MARTA Gold Line runs directly from inside Hartsfield-Jackson Airport to Five Points downtown. The station is inside the terminal. Trains every 10 to 15 minutes.
Uber or Lyft
Door-to-door from the airport to your hotel. Use the rideshare pickup area on the arrivals level.
β οΈ Arriving on an International Flight?
Terminal F (International Terminal) does NOT have a direct MARTA entrance. After clearing customs, take the FREE inter-terminal shuttle to the Domestic Terminal (Terminals T, A, B, C, D, E). The shuttle takes approximately 15 minutes. Once at the Domestic Terminal, follow signs to "MARTA Airport Station" to board the train.
Missing this step is the single most common mistake international fans make at Atlanta Airport.

Metro and Subway
MARTA Rail System
MARTA rail has 4 lines (Red, Gold, Blue, Green) with 38 stations connecting the airport, downtown, Midtown, and Buckhead. For World Cup fans, the Vine City station (Blue and Green lines) is a 5-minute walk from Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Five Points is the central transfer hub. Buy a reloadable Breeze Card at any station for $2 plus fare. MARTA runs 5 AM to 1 AM daily, with extended hours on match days.
Stadium Stop
The SEC District station (formerly GWCC/CNN Center) on the Blue and Green lines is the main entrance to Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Vine City station on the west side is a 5-minute walk and has shorter queues post-match. On match days, MARTA adds extra trains every 5 minutes and extends service until 2 AM. Tap your credit card or phone at the fare gate. No Breeze card needed.
Paying Your MARTA Fare in 2026
MARTA is transitioning to the Better Breeze system between March 28 and May 2, 2026. The old Breeze card and Breeze 2.0 app will stop working before the tournament starts. Do NOT buy or top up an old Breeze card, and avoid the $2 card purchase fee entirely by using one of these options:
Open Payment: Tap your Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, or Google Pay directly at any MARTA fare gate. No card needed, no fee. This is the simplest option for international fans.
Breeze Mobile App: Download the new Breeze Mobile app from the App Store or Google Play before you travel. Load fare in advance and tap your phone at the gate.
SEC District Station
(formerly GWCC/CNN Center)
The main arrival station for Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Exit here for the main entrance on the east side. On match days expect large crowds and queues at this station, especially post-match.

(West side of stadium)
Walk 5 minutes west from the stadium to Vine City instead of queuing at SEC District. Shorter queues post-match and bypasses the 45-minute platform wait entirely. Fans who know this trick save 30 to 45 minutes.

Atlanta Streetcar
The Atlanta Streetcar is a free, 2.7-mile loop connecting Centennial Olympic Park to the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site through downtown. It runs every 10 to 15 minutes and is a convenient way to explore the downtown core without paying for a ride. The route passes the World of Coca-Cola and the Georgia Aquarium.
