World Cup 2026 Weather
Everything you need to know about the climate at all 16 host cities. Pack right, stay cool, and enjoy every minute.
Know Before You Go
Going to the World Cup in summer sounds amazing, and it is. But the heat across the US, Canada, and Mexico is real, and most stadiums have no roof cover at all. Whether you are heading to Miami in July or Seattle in June, here is what you actually need to know before you pack.
The three Mexican cities (Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey) are in full rainy season during the tournament. That means afternoon downpours almost every day, usually short but heavy. The US Gulf Coast cities (Miami, Houston, Dallas) combine heat with humidity that makes 33°C feel like 40°C. The cooler options? Seattle averages just 21°C in June and Vancouver is the mildest of all at 22°C.
One fact that surprises people: Mexico City sits at 2,240 metres above sea level. The UV is extreme up there even on overcast days, and the altitude means your body works harder in the heat. Give yourself a day to adjust before spending eight hours outside.
Summer Heat
Most matches run June through July. Daytime temperatures in Miami, Dallas, and Houston hit 33-36°C. That is hot when you are standing outside for hours.
Strong UV
UV levels hit 11 (extreme) in Mexico City. Even on cloudy days, UV can cause burns. Reapply SPF 50+ every two hours, not just before you leave the hotel.
Rain and Storms
Miami and Houston get heavy afternoon showers. These come fast and do not last long. A compact poncho weighs nothing and saves your whole match day.
Humidity
Gulf Coast cities are humid. 33°C feels more like 41°C when the humidity is at 80%. Light, loose, breathable clothes make a real difference to how you feel.
Stay safe in the heat
Drink water before you feel thirsty. Start hydrating the day before your match. Bring a reusable bottle. Most venues have free water stations. Wear a hat. Find shade during breaks. If you feel dizzy or stop sweating on a hot day, get into air conditioning immediately.

Hot Days, Massive Atmosphere
Summer heat is part of the World Cup 2026 experience. The right prep makes it the best day of your trip.
